April 2012 Glorious weather - still Spring but feels like Summer as started .... soon be swimming and all the usual events round and about.

Well, I suppose for this year it's all Christmas Markets and the New Year's Eve fireworks at Brandenburg Gate ... have fun :-)

Coming up ... Dollgow Harvest Festival  in Sept.. attracts loads of visitors. Plenty to do all day - including my mate Alex's band playing somewhere in the village. Big bopping party at night. Usually good fun.

Rheinsberg Pottery Market in April and October.

Maharishi Gandharva Veda concerts whenever we can.

Throughout the summer months there is usually a local festival of some kind and many exhibitions and concerts in local buildings and churches. See http://www.gransee.de/veranstaltungen/index.php - and if your German isn’t up to it then get in touch and I can help out (see my web page Cool-English – partly done!!!)

The main festivals are:-

“Waldfest” in Menz (usually early July),

Mediaeval festival in Zernikow (also early July)

Brandenburger Wasserfest, Fürstenburg – usually in July

“Maulbeerfest” in Zernikow (revolves around mulberry trees, silk, silkworms etc.) July

Stechlinsee Festival in Neuglobsow on August

The Harvest Festival in Dollgow is also really well organised. September

Gutengermendorf  Horse & Pony Fair on October

The old brickworks museum in Mildenberg has lots of well attended events throughout the year.

And a bit further away but worth a visit …..

Flößerfest Lychen in July or thereabouts … wooden rafts out on the lakes

Rheinsberg has an ever growing pottery market with exhibitors stands out on the streets – October as well as many musical events (usually opera and classical – sometimes out on the lake) as well as a yearly “Musikmeile” where around 10 different bands play at various locales.

Check out http://brandenburg.rz.htw-berlin.de/termine.html - but you’ll need your german/english dictionary again!!!

Most of the towns on the lakes have Harbour Festivals – Zehdenick is usually pretty good but I missed it this year – it was back in May.
